I have been working with colleges and universities for over 20 years in the areas of program assessment of student learning and institutional effectiveness. It has been both rewarding and frustrating as I encounter countless examples of extremely busy faculty and administrators piling on the work to "comply" with the demands of external agencies to produce evidence of student learning. It is hoped that, in some small way, this blog can both engage and challenge faculty and administrators alike to become more intentional in their program assessment efforts, creating systematic and efficient processes that actually have the likelihood of improving student learning while honoring faculty time.
